Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A murder trial that had been scheduled to begin next week in Olmsted County Court has been postponed.

Court officials have not officially set a new date for Sao Yim’s trial, but it’s expected to be scheduled in February. The delay was requested after the 26-year-old Rochester man switched to a different defense attorney.

Yim is charged with second-degree murder for allegedly shooting and killing 40-year-old Ahmed Muafaq Abdulhu Al Naddf during a confrontation outside the victim’s northwest Rochester apartment in March of last year. The criminal complaint alleges Yim mistakenly believed the victim had bumped into his parked vehicle with his vehicle.

A man with Yim when the shooting occurred, 25-year-old Eric Lee, earlier pleaded guilty to a charge of aiding an offender-accomplice after the face and was sentenced to 10-years on probation. As part of his plea deal, Lee agreed to testify for the prosecution at Yim’s trial.
