Congratulations to Jim Silkey, baker at Shattuck-St. Mary's, he won 4 awards at the 97th annual Upper Midwest Bakery Association Convention! Since this convention has been going on for 97 years I think they know what they're talking about.

If you've picked up a homemade bagel, "a slice of toasted Super Bread, or a pistachio muffin" from Shattuck-St. Mary's you've had Jim's baking!

At the Upper Midwest Bakery Association Convention he won two certificates (which indicate 2nd place), one gold medal (which indicates 1st place), and a plaque (which indicates best in show)!

In one of the competitions, he created a bagel out of onion, bacon, and horseradish which earned him a certificate. Another competition he made his famous Super Bread which also won him a certificate.

As for his medal and best in show plaque, he won those with his pistachio corn bread with cranberry and wild rice.
