St Paul (KROC AM News) - A St. Paul man who made national news when he was convicted of sexually assaulting two young girls has been given a long prison sentence.

A Ramsey County jury in January convicted 36-year-old Arturo Macarro Gutierrez of sexually assaulting his girlfriend’s twin daughters and causing them to contract gonorrhea.

The criminal complaint says the girls were 4-years-old when they were assaulted by Gutierrez in 2018.

The charges were filed after tests determined the two tested positive for the sexually transmitted disease. He also tested positive for gonorrhea.

Gutierrez has been sentenced to a combined prison term of 640 months for his convictions of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct.
