Many people received a poinsettia plant for Christmas. I enjoy living plants (except for the weeds in my fields) especially bright red flowering plants like the poinsettias! Most water them and keep them alive for a while and then throw them out in the garbage or compost pile. It is hard to see the poinsettia plant die, especially if someone special gave it to you!

I found out with a little care and knowledge you can keep your poinsettia alive until next Christmas and even get it to change color again next year! Dr. Leonard Perry who is a Professor at the University of Vermont came up with an easy way to remember how to take care of your poinsettia plant. The schedule is tied to major holidays.
