Many people received a poinsettia plant for Christmas. I enjoy living plants (except for the weeds in my fields) especially bright red flowering plants like the poinsettias! Most water them and keep them alive for a while and then throw them out in the garbage or compost pile. It is hard to see the poinsettia plant die, especially if someone special gave it to you!

I found out with a little care and knowledge you can keep your poinsettia alive until next Christmas and even get it to change color again next year! Dr. Leonard Perry who is a Professor at the University of Vermont came up with an easy way to remember how to take care of your poinsettia plant. The schedule is tied to major holidays. Here is the link to Dr. Leonard Perry's article on caring for poinsettias: https://pss.uvm.edu/ppp/articles/poinsett.htm.
