Summer break is right around the corner! Do you have any road trips planned yet? Here are the top 5 amusement parks that are just a short drive from southern Minnesota.

  • Adventureland

    Des Moines, IA

Rides, water, food and fun! Just a short drive from Rochester, you'll find Adventureland. They have one of the top 10 wooden roller coasters in North America - The Tornado. The coaster reaches speeds of 60 mph.

Ticket prices are between $30 and $40, with extra savings when you go two days in a row.

  • Valleyfair

    Shakopee, MN

My go-to field trip destination back in the day, and I still love it today! There is plenty of entertainment to kick off the summer - Corkscrew and Steel Venum are my faves! plus, Soak City opens next weekend (May 27th).

  • Wild Water West

    Sioux Falls, SD

When I went to Sioux Falls for a softball tournament, we brought my stepson and little sister along for the fun. Of course, we just had to make a pit-stop at Wild Water West. The kids had a blast! I think we spent about two hours just on the bumper boats.

Sioux Falls also has an awesome, must-see zoo!

  • Wisconsin Dells

It's not called the Waterpark Capital of the World for no reason! My family takes an annual trip (sometimes two) to the Dells. We try and check out different parks each time, but find ourselves at Mount Olympus and Noah's Ark pretty much every year.

  • Arnold's Park

    Arnold's Park, IA

Go-Karts, steamboats, rides, a museum and more. You can check out live music every weekend, and go camping by Lake Okoboji! It's a fun place for a close family getaway!
