The first Faribault Main Street Car Cruise Night for summer 2017 was a success in my book. Despite the gray skies and lower temperature than what we experienced last weekend, we had a great turnout of vehicles, with a bunch of new cars that I've never seen at any of the past shows. The University of Minnesota Solar Vehicle Project team made a return appearance with their solar power vehicle. According to their website, "In 2016, the Solar Vehicle Project placed fourth in the Formula Sun Grand Prix and tenth in the American Solar Challenge, the only cruiser competitor to qualify for either race." And they'll be competing in the 2017 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia this year. Signature Bar and Grill were set up outside and selling burger and hot dog baskets and several $25 Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce gift certificates were given away throughout the night. Plus Malecha's Auto Body had a booth set up and gave away an auto detailing kit towards the end of the night.

A big thank you to everyone that came out to the event and I hope to see even more people at the June 16 Faribault Main Street Car Cruise night. Remember this event happens every third Friday of the month all summer long through August. See you there!
