Plenty of Horse Power at Faribault Main Street Car Cruise Night
Friday night's Faribault Main Street Car Cruise Night was themed as Horses and Horse Power to coincide with that night's Rice County Free Fair grandstand event, the Barnes PRCA Rodeo. I didn't see any horses, but there was plenty of horsepower.
Despite rain earlier in the afternoon, all possibility of storms moved out of the forecast, giving us a beautiful sunny evening with a light breeze blowing down Central Avenue. There was a good turnout of cars and trucks, with a lot of new vehicles I've never seen before, including a beautiful tricked out black Dodge Viper and a white Buick Regal ready to hit the drag strip, that were getting a lot of attention. The owner of the Viper, Jeremy Schlichter, even offered take take me for a quick ride, so I took him up on it. This was the first time I've ever ridden in one of these high-performance machines and he showed me what it could do. I'll just say this, it's head-snapping fast and fun!
There were several prizes given away, including some nice ones from Malecha's Auto Body. The young ladies at the booth were appropriately dressed in poodle skirts for the occasion. It's fun to see how people are starting to get into the whole '50s and '60s theme. Plus everyone got a sneak peek of the trophy that will be given away at the next cruise.
The next Faribault Main Street Car Cruise Night is the third Friday of next month, August 18, on Central Avenue in downtown Faribault, I'll see you there!
