The Medford boys basketball victory over Bethlehem Academy in Faribault Friday, December 13 takes on more significance as you learn the historical aspect of the win. It was the Tiger boys first win over the Cardinals in about 30 years, according to some reports.

The Tigers earn a Cash Wise Foods Team of the Week honor for their historical win. Cash Wise Foods will donate a gift card to a charity in the district of the winning team each week during the 2019-2020 school year.

The win also was the second Gopher Conference win of the young season, already eclipsing their one victory from last winter's conference schedule. Medford is 2-3 overall entering a tough game against Waterville-Elysian-Morristown at 7:15 pm at the Medford gym on Friday, December 20.

Tigers coach Todd Schneider spoke on Saturday's AM 1390 KRFO Coaches Show, "It's been a long time since Medford's beaten B-A. Big win. Tough game. They're always our biggest rival, always one of the most physical games. We came close last year. We lost by 20 the first time. We lost in double overtime the second time at BA, a very hard place to play. So we finally bust through and got a win. And it was a good win, too. It was a tough battle."

The game was tied at 27-27 at the half on Friday. Medford outscored the Cards 34-17 in the second half.

Schneider is happy to see the program beginning to turn the corner. The Tigers had struggled through a few season before last season without a conference win. He sees the team gaining confidence through its recent success.
