Winona, MN (KROC-AM News) - The line of storms that caused major damage in Sioux Falls, South Dakota also produced a tornado that damaged a cemetery near Winona.

The National Weather Service says the EF-1 twister had winds of about 95 miles per hour when hit downed a number of trees inside Woodlawn Cemetery along Highway 61 just south of Lake Winona. A survey team estimates the tornado was about 80 yards wide and was on the ground less than a quarter-mile when it hit around 6:25 AM.

The storm system brought a little over an inch of rain to the Rochester Airport and caused scattered power outages in the city.

In Sioux Falls, officials say over three dozen buildings suffered structural damage and some were destroyed by two tornadoes that hit around 11:30 Tuesday night. The National Weather Service says one of the twisters, an EF-2 with 130 miles per hour winds, injured 8 people when it struck the Avera Heart Hospital. The other tornado that hit Sioux Falls was also rated as an EF-2 and was producing winds estimated at 125 miles per hour when it tore through a shopping complex.
