Two Opponents Complain Of Racial “Monkey” Taunts Coming From New Prague Crowd
Tuesday night into Wednesday morning reports began bubbling up on social media of 'something' happening at the girl's basketball game between New Prague and Cooper High School. That something is allegations from one of the Cooper coaches of students in the crowd at New Prague's High School, making "LOUD MONKEY NOISES" towards the Cooper basketball team. It wasn't long after that post on Instagram began making the rounds that a second incident was posted about, this time dealing with the New Prague boys hockey team, on the same night.
A Tweet from a Benilde St. Margaret's Coach which contained the original Instagram post indicated that it wasn't the first time something like this has happened in New Prague.
I saw this on Instagram & wasn’t surprised at all. This is unacceptable. 2 Students their called a kid on my 9B team a monkey as well. This is a pattern for this school - CoachDame_BSM via Twitter
The second accusation of racial taunting towards players of color came in the form of a comment on Facebook from Danny Bissonnette revolving around a boys hockey game also played Tuesday night between SLP and New Prague.
An email was sent to the Superintendent of the New Prague School District for comment and we got this in return.
