Owatonna hockey swept rival Rochester Mayo with a pair of shutout victories on Saturday. The OHS girls dominated at Four Seasons Centre 13-0. The Huskies boys topped the Spartans at Graham Arena in Rochester 3-0. Overall, Owatonna out shot Mayo by a combined 87-11.

The girls game was Owatonna's Stick it to Cancer Night. They raised over $2,500 to be donated to From the Heart. In the game, nine Huskies scored including the first career goals for Lilly Hunst and Izzy Radel. Ezra Oien had her second straight hat trick. Oien has 21 goals on the season, putting her in the top twenty in the state in goals scored. View Owatonna's stats here on Hockey Hub.

Chloe Schmidt had two goals and three assists. Sydney Hunst had three assists, including one on her younger sister's goal. Molly Achterkirch had three helpers as well. Abby Vetch had a pair of assists. Samantha Bogen scored twice. Other goal scorers included Grace Wolfe, Sarah Snitker, Calby Podein, and Macy Stanton.

Owatonna was credited with a 50-1 shot advantage over Mayo according to the game sheet on Hockey Hub. Asia Bursyka got the shutout, her fourth of the season. OHS plays Mankato East/Loyola Tuesday, January 14 at 5:15 pm at All Seasons Arena in Mankato with coverage on Kat Kountry 105 FM and the free Kat Kountry 105 app.

The boys jumped out to a led 3:04 into the first period in Rochester on an unassisted goal by Wyatt Oldenfendt. Tanner Stendel scored from Sam Sampson in the closing minute of the first period for a 2-0 lead. OHS out shot Mayo 15-2 in the first period and 37-10 for the game. Zach Wiese got the shut out in goal.

Dom Valento scored a shorthanded goal with an assist from Taylor Bogen late in the third period for the 3-0 win. The Huskies play an important Section 1AA game Tuesday, January 14 against Farmington on Dudley Otto Rink in Owatonna. The puck drops at 7 pm.
