The Union Hill Bulldogs took a 11-1 seven inning bite out of the Faribault Lakers in the first round of Region 3C play in the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Tournament.  The Bulldogs hit 4 home runs in the game.  Three in the first 3 innings and another in the 6th.

Four different Bulldogs accomplished the feat.  Conrad Masberg got the first home run to lead off the second inning when he worked the count full and hammered a pitch over the right field fence.

Tyler Francis was the starting pitcher for Faribault.  Following a groundout Nathan Berg was hit by a pitch when the count was 0-2.  Francis tried to pick him off first base and the wide throw advanced Berg to second.  Jacob Becker had an infield single.  #8 hitter, Jack Becker stroked a 2 run double to put them up 3-0.

The Lakers couldn't master Union Hill pitcher Joe Becker through the first three innings with just one base runner on a walk by Adam Kline.

The Bulldogs scored 5 more runs in the third inning.  Joe Becker opened with a single.  Francis struck out the #3 hitter and got a fly out to left field from the next batter.

With the count 2-2 Nate Lee clubbed a 2 run home run.  Nathan Berg and Jacob Becker got back to back singles.  Jack Becker crushed a 1-0 pitch for a 3 run home run.   Number 9 hitter Jay Skogerboe was walked before a fly out of the 9th person to come to the plate ended the inning.  It was 8-0 Union Hill.

Danny Pierce opened the 4th inning with a bunt single.  Designated hitter Matt Lane lifted a 1-2 pitch to the opposite field for a bloop single.  Joe Grote was hit by a pitch to load the  bases with no outs.

Mitch Johnson hit into a 5-2-3 double play.  Mike Carpentier grounded out to end the Faribault 4th inning.

Francis left after the third inning throwing 56 pitches, 36 for strikes with 1 strikeout, 1 walk, 1 hit batter, 8 hits allowed, 3 home runs, a double, 8 runs scored.  He earned the start by being the Lakers most effective pitcher during the regular season.

Joe Grote threw over the next three innings also ending with 56 pitches, 40 for strikes allowing 4 hits including a home run and two runs.

Joe Becker hit a 1-1 pitch for the Bulldogs 4th home run in the 6th inning.  It was a 2 run round tripper.

Faribault scored their only run in the 6th inning.  Pierce opened the inning with an infield single.  Lane was walked.  During the Grote at bat there was a wild pitch advancing the runners a base. Grote was walked to load the bases with no outs.  Pierce would score on a groundout by Mitch Johnson.

The Lakers got a one out double by Jack Helgeson in the 5th inning.  A balk was called advancing him to third during the Adam Kline at bat.  Kline hit a ground ball to third.  Helgeson was thrown out at home before Blake Langerud hit a sharp line drive right to the first baseman.

Blake Borwege took the mound in the 7th.  Brady O'Neill was walked, Zac Dubanowski hit by a pitch.  Daniel Feneis hit into a fielder's choice to place runners at the corners with one out.  Derek Masberg then ended the game on the 10 run mercy rule with a RBI single to make it 11-1.
