This past weekend was a great weekend for being outdoors, it wasn't too hot or too cold. It was the perfect time to go kayaking or canoeing on an area lake or river. But anytime you go out be sure you have the tools to get you out of potentially dangerous situations. You should take this rescue to heart though if you plan on kayaking along the Cannon River in Rice County.

Three Owatonna men and a Red Wing woman had to be rescued after they became stranded by a downed tree on the Cannon River in Rice County. Deputies and dive team members arrived at the scene around 11 a.m. The four people in the river were located near 175th Street in Cannon City Township just before noon on Saturday.

KEYC-TV reported that river currents pulled the victim's, 24–year–old Aubreona Hanson, kayak into a downed tree and the three men tried to rescue her.

Hanson was then transported by ambulance and later air-lifted to another hospital, where she was last reported to be in serious but stable condition.
