Training camp hasn't even begun and the critics are already out with no love for the Purple. Adding on to that 'lack of love' the new Madden NFL 19 ratings came out yesterday. The ratings don't mean much outside of the video game but the players themselves sometimes take offense at their ratings. New Viking QB Kirk Cousins came in with a Madden rating of 82. That would make him tied for the 15th best QB in the game. 82 wasn't the highest rating a Vikings player received, the highest rating that was given was a 97 and that went to...

Harrison Smith! His ranking placed him among the 14 best players in the video game. Following in his footsteps were defensive end Everson Griffen (92), cornerback Xavier Rhodes (92), wide receiver Stefon Diggs (90) and defensive tackle Linval Joseph (90), whose strength was rated a 97 (tied for second best in the NFL and only eclipsed by Rams defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh).

The Vikings also had four players receive an 85 or better rating: safety Andrew Sendejo (85), running back Dalvin Cook (85), tight end Kyle Rudolph (86) and wide receiver Adam Thielen (88).

Our neighbors to the east are probably laughing in their cheese attired clothing after they saw new Viking Kirk Cousin's rating. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers earned a 99 overall rating. We'll see if that number stands up to Anthony Barr in week 2 this season.
