Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - What a difference 20 miles can make.

The National Weather Service received a report from Albert Lea at 6:00 AM Saturday that the city had received 6 inches of snow from the storm that rolled into Minnesota Friday. Twenty miles away in Austin, the total as of 3:00 AM Saturday was a measly half inch.

Rochester residents were treated to a beautiful dawn as the storm completely missed the city. Earlier predictions called for as much as 6 inches through Saturday morning.

Snowfall totals of 7 - 10 inches were reported in southwest Minnesota. Northern Iowa took the brunt of the storm with more than a foot reported in some areas.

There will be a chance for light snow and freezing rain in the Rochester area Monday. Meanwhile, we’re still waiting for a spring warm up. The warmest it’s been in Rochester so far this year is 47 degrees.
