Zumbrota-Mazeppa senior Zach Hutton hit a five foot contested shot with under a second to go in a 65-63 win in Cannon Falls tonight.  The Bombers led most of the game with a 32-29 lead at the half.

Cougars junior 6'2 Willie Holm III was huge down the stretch, collecting a steal to give his team the lead with just under six minutes to go.  He also hit a layup on a fast break that gave Z-M a 6 point lead with around 3 minutes to go.

Cannon Falls fought back with back to back three point baskets by senior 6'3 Luke Sjoquist to tie the game.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa Head Coach Fred Liffrig called a time out with 7.9 seconds to go and told KDHL after the game he asked the kids what they wanted to do and they said to put the ball in Zach's hands.

Classmate Anthony Cylkowski set a screen to help get the shot Hutton wanted.  The clock ran out and officials had to determine how much time should be left on the clock.  They decided four tenths of a second.

Cannon Falls threw a pass to senior 6'0 Rhett Schaefer at half court and he did appear to get the shot off but the ball hit the backboard to the side of the basket to end the game.

Schafer was unstoppable in the first half.  Scoring 17 of his 23 points during that time including 8 for 8 at the free throw line.  He was held to one three point basket in the second half, was 3 of 5 from the free throw line.  Sjoquist added 20 points.  14 in the second half.
