I've taken the plunge several times: getting a "real" job as my mother would say, getting engaged, and owning a home. If you noticed none of those plunges involved ice cold water. But if you are feeling daring you can do just that, jump into an ice-cold lake for a great cause.

Coming up on Jan. 27 in Owatonna, there will be a Special Olympics Polar Plunge at Lake Kohlmeier! According to the website, shuttle buses will be available to take those willing to brave the cold water of the Plunge from the parking lot of Federated Insurance to the plunge site.

Those who are a bit more timid (not taking the plunge) are also asked to park at Federated Insurance. Shuttles will run continuously beginning at 11 a.m. through the end of the Plunge. If you are making the plunge January 27, they ask that you carpool when able to avoid traffic.

Over the past 3 years over 400 participants in the Owatonna area have generated more than $100,000 for the Special Olympics!  All funds raised go towards programming and events for more than 8,200 athletes statewide.
