Brief Description Of Activity

Participate in Job Fair On February 12, 2013, two of our SEU’s Program Directors joined the Director of Placement Services at Brown College to participate in their outreach to new graduates of its broadcasting program.  Our Program Directors spoke with the graduates about career opportunities in broadcasting and job openings within the SEU.  They provided Brown College with contact information to forward to graduates interested in transmitting resumes and air checks to the SEU for consideration.
Participate in event/program sponsored by or on behalf of an educational institution relating to careers in broadcasting On March 11,2013 our SEU participated in a career fair at South Central College called Career Fest.  Local high school students were encouraged to attend to learn about careers in a variety of fields and participate in question and answer sessions throughout the day.  Our SEU’s General Sales Manager talked about career opportunities in radio and led a group discussion during four different sessions during the course of the day.
Participate in Scholarship Program relating to broadcast careers On May 20, 2013, our SEU sponsored a scholarship program (20th year) called Scholar Dollars, which awards six $500 scholarships to local students planning to attend college and major in communications, marketing, or broadcasting.  From February through April 2013, Owatonna’s High School guidance office collected applications for the scholarships.  In May, our General Sales Manager worked with the School’s guidance office to review and select scholarship recipients.  On May 20, 2013, we hosted a breakfast during which our SEU presented the six scholarships to the selected candidates.
Participate in event/program sponsored by or on behalf of a Community organization relating to careers in broadcasting On April 26, 2013, our SEU participated in the Faribault Chamber of Commerce Business Expo.  SEU representatives spoke with attendees about career opportunities in broadcasting and job openings within the SEU.  Those expressing interest were given job descriptions and applications.  SEU participants included our Promotions and Program Directors.
Host Open House On May 22, 2013, our SEU hosted an open house at our facilities in Faribault.  SEU representatives spoke with attendees about careers in broadcasting with an emphasis on sales and job openings within the SEU.  SEU participants included our Market and General Sales Managers.  This event was promoted on all SEU stations.
