Last week, Faribault Bethlehem Academy Activities Director Ed Friesen told me he was close to hiring a new boys basketball coach and an announcement might be made by the end of the week.

Monday evening he sent an email noting Eric Hildebrandt is the new head boys basketball coach. Hildebrandt graduated from Faribault High School in 2007 and Bethel University in 2012.

He played on the basketball team and was captain for two years, receiving the Bethel Royal Spirit Men's Basketball Leadership award twice and was selected to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Sportsmanship Team.

Hildebrandt is a social studies teacher at Faribault High School and has coached junior varsity, b-squad and eighth-grade boys basketball for Faribault since 2012. He also has experience as a strength and conditioning coach.

Hildebrandt is an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and is pursuing a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning from St. Mary's University in Winona.

In his email, Friesen says Hildebrandt will be conducting summer boys basketball camps at Bethlehem Academy.
