Distracted Driving Crackdown Starts Monday
Steele County Deputy Nick Donahue was our guest on AM 1390's Talk of the Town. April 13 marks the beginning of a state crackdown on distracted driving. While it's not against the law to talk on a cellphone while driving, Donahue said that applies only to some drivers. New drivers with provisional licenses are not allowed to talk while driving. Texting while driving is a no-no for all drivers.
It's actually possible to be cited for distracted driving without it being witnessed by an officer. If you were to cause a crash while eating and the other driver points the finger at you, evidence will be weighed. If it appears you were eating while driving, you could possibly get a ticket.
Just do the right thing when driving. Concentrate on the road and your driving and forget trying to do more than driving when you are behind the wheel.
