The Triton basketball programs will host 'Shooting for a Cure' Friday, January 26 as a fundraising event for cancer. Seven basketball teams play at home Friday, including both the boys' and girls' varsity teams.
Former Steele County Fair secretary Jim Gleason and his family issued a note of thanks to the community for its support while he battles an aggressive form of brain cancer. Gleason recently stepped down from his post with the fair after advise from his doctors. He was the fair secretary for seven years and after many years as a radio salesman.
Governor Dayton had a cancer scare earlier this year and now he is encouraging all Minnesotans to be proactive in dealing with the potentially deadly disease.
