The Steele County Historical Society presents a Vietnam Roundtable Discussion on Thursday, September 24 beginning at 7PM.This will be the first of a series of veteran roundtables discussions.

Wayne Starman will moderate the program with four Vietnam Vets sharing their experiences. There will be time for questions following the presetation.

  • Serving from 1968-1970 Gene Michaelson was in the US Navy stationed on the coast lines between North and South Vietnam. He worked on the first drones as an electronics tech.
  • In the 3rd Marine Division, Don Loken served between 1965-1966. "Gunner" Loken was involved in landings off naval ships and foot patrols.
  • Serving in the Army from 1965-66, Don Matejcek recovered and repaired downed aircraft.
  • A communication specialist in the Army 1970-72 and serving two tours, John Iverson was in charge of a Fire Support Base.

Currently on display at the History Center is the Vietnam Exhibit with artifacts, uniforms and a memorial to the fallen soldiers.

This presentation is free for Steele County Historical Society's members and $2 for nonmembers.
