The Faribault Lakers played six games in eight days, and the sixth game Friday night showed they need a break.

The Northfield Knights brought a good crowd to Bell Field to join the Laker fans in watching a, 11-1 Northfield win.

An eight-run fifth inning ignited the Knights' victory, and they got a bit of help from Faribault in that onslaught.

Blake Langerud started the game on the hill and ran into some trouble in the fifth inning when he walked in a run. Porter Sartor replaced him and walked the first batter for another bases-loaded walk to give Northfield a 3-0 lead at the time.

Before the fifth inning ended, Egan Bonde took the hill and did a nice job finishing the game.

Faribault had just three hits in the contest off two Northfield pitchers. Ben Voss started the game and Joey Voss finished it for the Knights.

The Lakers go into the All-Star break winners of five of their past six games. Three Lakers are participating in the DRS League vs. RVL League All-Star game Thursday in Prior Lake at 7:30PM. Nick Johnson, Joe Grote and Jack Helgeson are representing the Lakers in the All-Star contest.

Faribault's next game is Saturday, July 9, when they host St. Benedict at 6PM.

Northfield hosts Randolph on Sunday at 2PM and has their annual July 4 game with Dundas at 2PM Monday.
