I remember the first time I listened to a Metallica album all the way through. It was the spring of 1986 and my buddy, Dave and I were heading up to class at Brown Institute in Minneapolis and he suggested we pop in their latest album, Matsers of Puppets (which he had on cassette). We listened through once and I remember telling him that I thought all the songs kind of sounded the same, with that signature Metallica galloping style, like they were trying to ride down the listener on their guitar & drum steeds. We decided to give it another listen & then another & another and we were hooked. So if you're a huge Metallica fan like me you'll be excited to learn that in commemoration of the 28th Anniversary of the release of Master of Puppets, they have made a show from that tour available as a free download. Recorded on September 21st, 1986 at the Hammersmith Odeon in London this concert also features fan favorites like "Ride The Lightning" & "For Whom The Bell Tolls." It also features Metallica guitar tech John Marshall filling in for James Hetfield on rhythm guitar. Hetfield had broken his wrist skateboarding & couldn't play guitar.
