My wife and I recently celebrated our 35th anniversary with a short weekend getaway in the Twin Cities and a stay at the Crown Plaza in Plymouth. It was a gift from my oldest daughter and her boyfriend and they joined us for the afternoon performance of Beauty and the Beast at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. This musical is based on the Disney animated movie by the same name and is one of my wife's and daughter's favorites. We started off with a delicious meal and enjoyed a huge slice of Towering Chocolate Cake for Two during intermission. The play was very entertaining and family friendly as there were several families in attendance. Quite a few of them had children celebrating a birthday.

After the afternoon's entertainment wrapped up, we cruised over to Paisley Park. There were several people still making the pilgrimage to the place where Prince spent much of his time before his unfortunate early passing. The fence surrounding the building was festooned with a multitude of tributes to the artist. A lot of the memorials were handmade and quite a few of them portrayed the joy and sadness that each of its owners were feeling when they created them.

The rest of our Saturday was filled with swimming, relaxing in the hot tub, going for a nice walk and pizza for our late supper. Sunday morning it was rise and shine for the Crown Plaza's massive breakfast buffet, which included a build your own omelette, pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, rolls, various desserts and more. I spent an hour and half eating and didn't have to eat for the rest of the day.

It was a fun way to celebrate our anniversary and I can't wait to see what the next 35 years holds in store for us.
