Yesterday's Power 96 Cool One was from the glam metal band Angel, formed in the mid-'70s by lead singer Punky Meadows and bass player Mickie Jones. The track I chose for the Cool One was called "Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore" from their fourth studio album White Hot. Released in 1978, the single was their only Top 50 hit, coming in at No. 44 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and remaining on the charts for eight weeks.

Angel was a band I'd never heard of before, until a friend told about me them one day in geometry class. We'd been talking about Queen and he said if I liked them then I should check out Angel. So I did, I picked up their up their White Hot release on that cutting edge music format, the eight-track tape, popped it in my under-the-dash player and commenced to rock out to tunes like "Don't Leave Me Lonely," "Stick Like Glue" and the aforementioned Cool One, "Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore," as well as others. I liked them so much that I picked up a couple other of their albums and have since purchased some of their music on CD.

Make sure you're listening at 4:35PM today for the next Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault, when I feature a group that has been described as being one of the seminal bands in the creation of grunge.
