I left work left work early yesterday to attend a memorial service for my cousin, Mike Bjorklund, so I wasn't able to recap last Friday's Power 96 Cool One. So I'll give you a recap of Friday and Monday in one post.

On Friday, I featured Badlands, a band put together by former Ozzy guitarist Jake E. Lee and former Black Sabbath members Ray Gillen and Eric Singer. This band performed between 1988-93 and had several lineup changes in that time. Although no longer with the band, Gillen was diagnosed with HIV and passed away on December 1, 1993, before he could finish an album by his latest band, Sun Red Sun. The track I featured by Badlands came from their self-titled release and was titled, "Dreams in the Dark." It topped out at No. 38 on the U.S. Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, while the album made it to No. 57 in the U.S.

Monday's Cool One was a cover of Mott the Hoople's "All the Way from Memphis" by supergroup Contraband, from their 1991 self-titled release. This was the only album they recorded and it only made it to No. 187 on the U.S. Billboard 200. The Cool One fared better, reaching No 12 on the U.S. Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Contraband was made up of members from Ratt, Vixen, Michael Schenker Group, Shark Island and L.A. Guns.

This afternoon's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault, comes your way just before Faribault Falcon softball action around 4:30PM this afternoon on Power 96.
