I had the day off yesteday so the Power 96 Cool One was an encore edition of last Thursday's artist, which I've already talked about. Instead I'll fill you in on the Friday Cool One, which was the Black Crowes and "Good Friday" from their fourth album, Three Snakes and One Charm, released on July 23, 1996. I felt the song title was quite appropriate for last Friday as we entered the Easter weekend. The single peaked at No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and the album topped out at No. 15  on the U.S. Billboard 200.

The only time I've seen the Black Crowes in concert was in support of Three Snakes and One Charm. I was fortunate to catch them in the intimate setting of the State Theatre in downtown Minneapolis. It was a fairly stripped-down affair, which really works for them, and I was glad to see them this way so I could experience the sound of just the band and not an arena spectacular.

Today's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault, features a cover tune by a band we don't normally play, but they've been getting a lot of airplay and press with this song. Find out who and what the song is at 4:35PM this afternoon on Power 96.
