Yesterday's Power 96 Cool One came from John Mellencamp's eighth studio album, Scarecrow. He scored three Top 10 hits from this album, "Lonely Ol' Night" and "Small Town" both peaked at No. 6, and "R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A." didn't quite make it to No. 1, instead settling for runner-up at No. 2. Everyone's pretty familiar with those songs, so I decided to dig a little deeper and chose "Minutes to Memories," which clocked in at No. 14 on the U.S. Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. I almost picked "Rumbleseat," which came in at No. 4 on that same chart, but ultimately I liked yesterday's Cool One a little bit more. The album, released in September 1985, performed well for Mellencamp, peaking at No 2 in the U.S., Australia and Canada.

Join me for today's edition of the Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts on Seventh Street in Faribault. I track a blues rocker and his cover of a Bob Dylan tune. Tune at 4:35PM to find out who and what the song is.
