Judas Priest kicked off the week's Power 96 Cool Ones with "A Touch of Evil" from their 12th studio album, Painkiller. Released in September 1990, the album was the first to feature new drummer and first non-Briton member, Scott Travis, replacing long-time member Dave Holland. Painkiller made it to No. 26 on the U.S. Billboard 200, while the single "A Touch of Evil" notched a No. 29 position on the U.S. Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. "Night Crawler" and the title track were two of the other singles from the album but failed to chart in the U.S.

Lead singer Rob Halford left the band shortly after finishing the tour promoting Painkiller in May 1992 and didn't rejoin the band until 2005, when they recorded Angel of Retribution.

By the way, Judas Priest just announced North American tour dates:

This afternoon's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault, comes from a band that was formed from the remnants of another band called Mother Love Bone. Make sure you're listening around 4:35PM today to find out who the featured band is.
