The Power 96 Cool One that I tracked yesterday was "Dissident," the fourth single from Pearl Jam's second studio album, Vs., which was released in October 1993. The single reached No. 3 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, tied with the single "Go" and was topped only by "Daughter," which went to No. 1 on both the Mainstream Rock Tracks and Modern Rock charts. The album itself topped the Billboard 200 chart at No. 1 for five weeks, the longest amount of time that a Pearl Jam release has held that position.

Vs. is a noticeably different album from Ten, with a much less commercial sound to it. The music and lyrics seem to be more infused with passion but are a bit abstract and disjointed at times.

Don't miss today's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts on Seventh Street in Faribault, at 4:35PM. This afternoon's choice is a little heavier that some of my picks lately, as matter of fact the next three days worth of Cool Ones will keep you rocking.
