Monday's Power 96 Cool One was "Cuts You Up" from English musician Peter Murphy off his third solo studio album, Deep, released in 1989. Murphy's most popular single, released in 1990, it charted at No. 55 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, No. 10 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and No. 1 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. Oddly, it didn't make a showing on the British charts. The album topped out at No. 44 on the U.S. Billboard 200.

Formerly the lead singer with Bauhaus, considered one of the first gothic rock groups, Murphy struck out on his own in shortly after the break up of Bauhaus in 1983. The rest of the band would go on to form Love and Rockets. In 1992 Murphy and his wife moved to Istanbul, Turkey, and his work has been heavily influence by the music of that region since then.

Join me this afternoon at 4:35PM for the next Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault.
