It's been a long time since I last heard Seven Mary Three's single "Cumbersome," so I thought it would be good to give it a listen as Monday's Power 96 Cool One. Taken from their album American Standard, yesterday's Cool One was the lead single and topped out at No. 39 on the U.S. Billboard 100, No. 7 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart and No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The album, which was released on September 5, 1995, peaked at No. 24 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and contained many rerecorded songs from their independent release Churn, one of those being the aforementioned Cool One.

Formed in 1992, Seven Mary Three have seven studio albums, one live album and several singles under their belts but are ultimately remembered as a one-hit-wonder band because of the popularity of "Cumbersome." After checking out their website, www.7m3.com, it looks like they're on hiatus because they're not performing anywhere and their Facebook page hasn't logged a new entry from them since September 2012.

Today's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault, is quite refreshing. Please be listening at 4:35PM to find out who and what it is.
