I really enjoy trying different cheeses and my wife and I like taking day-trips when we get a chance. I recently found a place that will let us combine the two things called Redhead Creamery. It's only a short two and a half hour drive from Faribault to Brooten, Minn., where the creamery and store are located.

Started in 2013 after the owner, Alise Sjostrom, learned the art of cheesemaking and used an ambitious Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign to help get her dreams off the ground. They set up their cheesemaking facility on the family farm and started producing cheese in 2014. Some of their cheeses include "Ridiculously Good Cheese Curds," "Lucky Linda Cave Aged Cheddar" "Red Temper" and more. Make sure you visit the store and pick up some cheese for the ride home.

They are open on Friday and Saturday during the winter from noon to 4PM with tours of the cheesemaking process at 12:30PM on Saturdays only. The tours are $5 per person and you'll see the dairy calves and heifers, the milking cows, cows in the milking parlor and the milk holding room.

My wife thought it sounded like a fun trip, now I just have to find a free weekend to do it.
