Don Baylor, who had a key home in in the Twins' victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 6 of the '87 World Series, lost his battle with cancer Monday. He was 68.

He later went on to become the first manager of the Colorado Rockies. He got a league MVP award in 1979 while with the Angels. He was traded from New York to Boston in '86, then to the Twins in '87 and went to the Athletics for his final season as a player in 1988.

The news of his death hit the Twins organization as this is a big year celebrating the 30th anniversary of the '87 series win. Broadcaster and '87 teammate Bert Blyleven posted a tweet about his friend.

Another baseball great has passed away. News that former Philadelphia Philles catcher Darren Daulton, a National League All-Star, died at 55 after a battle with brain cancer was received on Monday.
