Cardinal Softball Gets Win Over Buccaneers

It started out looking like a playoff game in Waterville on Thursday as the Cardinals and Buccaneers went scoreless until the 3rd Inning. Nicole Menard lead off the Cardinal 3rd with a double, Tess Glenzinsk got a walk and the Cards went on to put 4 on the board. WEM answered with a run in the bottom of the 3rd.

Grace Ashley went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a double and Oathoudt was also 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. B.A. got two more runs in the 5th. WEM picked up a run in the 5th, 2 in the 6th and 1 in the 7th.

Kylie Pittman went 3-4  with a run scored, two RBIs and came a home run away from hitting for the cycle. Also getting 2 hit games were Nicole Nuetzman, Makayla Paulson, and Ellie Ready. Nicole Nuetzman, Makayla Paulson, and Ellie Ready also had two-hit games.

In the 7th Hailie Tegmeier led off with a double. After a flyout, Tegmeier scored on a ground-ball error. Tess Glenzinski forced another fly out and ended the game on a strikeout of Paulson, who represented the tying run.

BA left 10 runners on base and WEM eight.

BA is on the road to United South Central on Monday at 4:30 PM. W-E-M faces St. Clair/Loyola Friday afternoon.
