The Faribault Falcons had a 6-1 lead late in their Big Nine Conference game with Rochester Century at Bell Field tonight, but lost 10-8.

The Panthers had just 3 hits according to the Falcons scorebook while Faribault cranked out 9 hits but it's runs that determine the winner.

Each team had 3 errors.

Faribault jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings.  Rochester Century got 3 runs in the 5th inning, 1 in the 6th to make it 6-4 Falcons going into the final inning.

They simple could not hammer down the win.

Senior lefty Hunter Nelson threw 4 and 1/3 innings of no hit ball with 5 strikeouts and 6 walks before giving way to Hudson Dillon and Tim Almendinger.

Nelson threw 90 pitches, 45 strikes.  Dillon tossed 57 pitches, 28 strikes, Almendinger 15 pitches, 8 strikes.

Nelson allowed 1 run.  He also had the only extra base hit for the Falcons, a double among his 2 hits.  Michael Crone smacked 3 hits, Jack Knutson belted a couple of hits for 2 RBI, Brad Sartor had a RBI.

Faribault had 3 stolen bases in the game while the Panthers had 4.

Falcons pitchers allowed a total of 10 walks and hit two batters.  Century pitchers allowed 3 walks with 6 strikeouts.

Faribault hosts Byron 11:00 a.m. Saturday.
