We told you about Ava Becken, an 8th grader that lives in Faribault and attends Northfield Middle School, she was competing in the Scripps National Spelling Bee this week. Her quest for a National spelling titled ended yesterday along with the three other remaining Minnesotans competing.

Ava, along with Ainsley Boucher, Sarah Lahti and Peter Clementson were eliminated in Wednesday’s preliminaries. The 41 finalists were announced after two days of onstage spelling during which nearly 200 spellers were eliminated for getting words wrong. Scores on a written spelling and vocabulary test determined who advanced to the finals. There were no perfect scores on the test.

The competition began with over 500 youth in the spelling competition. Here were the words that the delegation from Minnesota spelled correctly while they were at the competition.
