The District One Hospital of Faribault Auxilian Advocates For Health is having a style show Saturday, May 5 at the American Legion.  The event begins at 11:00 a.m.  Members Pat Rice and Donna Crowl are scheduled to be guests on today's KDHL AM Minnesota program to give us details.

We will find out at 9:30 a.m. about where the dollars from the fundraiser are going.  Last year the group along with the Rose and Chuck Dube family donated a Little Free Library book shelf for use in the medical/surgical department.  Through the Angel's Attic Gift Shop the auxiliary also made a donation of comfortable caps for patients of the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute-District One Hospital.  Other donations included:

  • Furnishings for the new Emergency Department
  • Device Charging Stations at the hospital
  • Reclining chairs for overnight guests
  • Televisions
  • Infusion Chair
  • Rocking chair and equipment for the Birth Center
  • Scale for Surgical Services
  • Pediatric gifts and toys

Membership is open to the public and men can be members also.  Annual membership is $20.  A lifetime membership is $75.  Hospital, hospice and auxiliary volunteers who donate 20 or more hours within a year earn an auxiliary membership the following year.

The mission of the auxiliary is to raise funds and share talents to address health needs in the Faribault community and furthur the mission of District One Hospital.  The auxiliary raises funds for non-budgeted, health-related items through a variety of activities.

When booking the show Pat told me they want to do more in the areas of nursing scholarships and a medical prescription assistance program.
