Owatonna boys' basketball played from behind at Osseo Monday in their season opener. The Huskies rallied several times but never quite caught the Orioles and lost 72-53. The Orioles won the consolation championship at the state tournament last winter, but graduated heavily from that team.

The Huskies are also turning the page after graduating their entire starting line-up. Osseo jumped ahead 6-0. Owatonna pulled within 19-18. The Orioles pulled out to a 37-26 halftime lead. OHS went on an 8-0 run to start the second half to pull within three.

Osseo's pressure defense led to numerous Owatonna turnovers, but the Huskies also forced play creating turnovers as well. For the game, OHS had 24 and Osseo 19. The Orioles had a 36-35 rebounding advantage. Osseo had nine three-pointers to just two for Owatonna.

Freshman Evan Dushek led the Huskies with 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds while coming off the bench. Senior Jared Fett had 15 points and ten rebounds. Steven Eckard scored nine. Jack Hanson had eight. OHS shot 13-for-22 on free throws.

Osseo's top scorer was Cornell Richardson with 20 points. He is the one starter back from their state tournament team.

Owatonna hosts Rochester Century Thursday, December 13 for their home opener.
