The Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights saw the Medford Tigers battle back from a 5-0 deficit to tie the game in the 7th inning before K-W prevailed 6-5 in eight innings.

It was a fantastic game to watch in the sunshine in Medford.  It's always windy there and the wind was blowing in on this day.

The Knights scored 5 runs in the top of the third inning after both pitchers were not allowing any base runners the first two innings.

Following a pop out to start the inning, #8 batter, right fielder, junior Lydia Schaeffer was walked.  She advanced to second base on a ground out and scored on a single struck by lead batter, shortstop sophmore Ivette Mendoza.

Left fielder, freshman Vanessa Bartel also hit a bloop single to right field. Third baseman, junior  Emma Paulson clubbed a single plating two runs, then pitcher, sophmore Josie Flom hammered a RBI single.

First baseman, junior Sidney Majerus would then clobber a double scoring Flom.  The inning ended on a pop out by the ninth K-W player to step into the batter's box.

Josie Flom started the game by striking out 6 of the first 10 batters she faced.

Flom continued her dominance by striking out the numbers 2, 3 and 4 batters in the bottom of the 4th inning.

With just a few hits allowed coming into the bottom of the 6th inning the Tigers #9 hitter designated player, sophmore Tessa Underdahl smacked a double to start the inning.

Right fielder, junior Jenesis McGuire stroked a single scoring Underdahl. Shortstop, junior Lydia Krenske knocked in Underdahl but was thrown out at second base.  A ground out and strike out ended the threat.

In the bottom of the 7th inning down 5-2 Medford would plate three runs to tie the game.

Tigers pitcher, sophmore Mackenzie Velishek jumped on the first pitch and singled to right field.  Left fielder,  Makinley Smith got a single to center and the comeback kids were on the move.

Center fielder, junior Grace Keller stroked a 2 run single.  Following a strikeout Underdahl knocked in the tying run on a single.  She was retired going to second base. A pop out sent the game into the eighth inning tied at 5.

Top of the 8th inning started with a ground out before Flom collected a single.  Another ground out followed but Flom advanced to third base.

Sophmore center fielder Rachel Ryan hit a slow roller down the first base line that was perfectly placed allowing Flom to score and Ryan to be safe at first base.  It was a perfect swinging bunt.

In the bottom of the inning Flom struck out the first batter.  There was a ground out and a pop out and the Knights had secured their 9th win of the season against 9 losses.

Medford fell to 1-14.  The Tigers had 8 hits, Knights 10 hits in the game.

Flom ended the game with 13 strikeouts, 0 walks.  Velishek had 4 strikeouts, 1 walk
