Dr. Kristina Rauenhorst of the Mayo Health System was our guest on AM Minnesota today.  We talked about a few different topics but the main focus of the program was menopause.  For women it's inevitable they will go through menopause.  It's all part of life.

Dr. Rauenhorst grew up in Morristown and went to medical school in St. Louis.  She told us it's great practicing near her hometown.  The Ob-Gyn specialist decided she was going to be a doctor at a young age and settled on delivering babies when she visited a Doctor and went on a birth call when she was in high school.  Seeing that birth sold her on the job.

Dr. Raunenhorst doesn't mind getting up in the middle of the night to help deliver a new life into the world.  It's one of the joys of her practice.

The average age of menopause in women is 51 but the range is from the 40's to later 50's.

We talk about what women can do to help with the symptoms surrounding menopause like the hot flashes that can happen anytime, anywhere and the night sweats.

If you did not have the opportunity to tune in this morning.  The audio will be on this page before the end of the weekend.
