As a way to lift some spirits in the community of Elko-New Market on Saturday, April 18th there will be a Parade of Hope that will feature the local Police Department, Fire Department, and local ambulance crews.

In a post shared by the New Market SnoMads Snowmobile club on Facebook, the post states that the 'Parade of Hope' will start at the fire station and work its way through town. Unfortunately, none of the vehicles will be able to stop for the kids to check out, and they are asking residents to practice social distancing along the route.

Residents are being asked to come out along the route and wave to show community support and solidarity during the current pandemic.

Personally I think this is a great thing for Elko-New Market to be doing. It's something that the kids can look forward to seeing the vehicles with their lights on, and I'm sure the sirens will be going a little bit too.

Will more communities start to offer these mini-parades? It certainly would be nice to see, and as long as it can be done safely I'm all for it.
