The Northfield Raiders girls basketball team finished last season second in the state in Class 3A and open this year #3 according to the Minnesota Basketball News.  Waseca is #9 in 3A and has an impressive win over a very good Stewartville team already on their resume.  Stewartville is #3 in Class 2A.  Grand Meadow and Goodhue are #7 and #8 in Class 1A where the State Champions in volleyball Minneota top the rankings.  In Class 4A perennial power Hopkins sits atop the poll. Defending Champ Eastview is #3, Farmington #9 and Prior Lake #10.

Last year's State Champions were:  Class 1A Lyle/Pacelli, Class 2A Sauk Centre (Byron represented Section 1), Class 3A Robbinsdale Cooper and 4A Eastview (defeated Hopkins 68-63)
