Owatonna High School will hold commencement 2021 as an outdoor event at the stadium field on Sunday, June 6 at 2 pm. The announcement comes from OHS principal Kory Kath through the April high school newsletter. Each graduate will receive four tickets for the event. Students will be recognized on a stage.

The front of the high school will be lit up to honor the Class of 2021 that evening from 9:30 to 10:30 pm. Rain date for graduation is Monday, June 7 at 6 pm.

Superintendent Jeff Elstad had stated during last month's Coffee and Conversation that the district was looking at an in-person graduation and would survey students for their opinion on the options. In 2020, Owatonna held it's graduation as a parking lot event in the Federated Insurance lot. Students were not allowed to leave their vehicles.

Cap and gown distribution is slated for April 15. Tryouts for graduation speakers will take place May 6 in the Small Group Forum. The academic and scholarship night is May 26. Eligible students will receive an invitation.

The newsletter from Kath also indicates that prom will be held May 8 at the Four Seasons Centre. "A Vintage Carnival" will be limited to juniors and seniors from OHS and the ALC. Masks will be required. No Grand March will be held. A professional photographer will take photos of attendees.

$10,000 will allow for an incredible graduation gift. Win cash through this radio station's free app. Listen for the code word at the top of each hour between 8 and a 5 pm each weekday. Enter the word on the app. The more words you enter, the more chances to win cash.
