The Southern Research and Outreach Center at Waseca will be hosting an Open House this Thursday, September 13, 2018, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Sweet corn provided by Pinnacle Bird's Eye Foods of Waseca and hot dogs will be served from 4:30 until 7:30. By the way, did I mention the sweet corn and hot dogs are free? Everyone is welcome to learn more about the Center's research, participate in all kinds of fun activities for all ages, interests, and backgrounds.

Specifically, you can learn about the foods you can eat to decrease your chances of developing cancer at the chemopreventive café. There will be pork tasting, soybean snacks and thanks to the Waseca County American Dairy Association malts. In addition, you can bring samples or questions to the Master Gardeners, purchase locally produced honey, learn about Minnesota's grape industry and sample local wines and craft beer.

For the kids, there will be horse-drawn trolley rides, games, a corn maze, piglets, calves, maybe turkeys and all kinds of 4-H activities. The open house will be held rain or shine. However, looking at the forecast, it is calling for beautiful weather Thursday. The Center is located on the west edge of Waseca on county road 41. For more information contact your extension office or call the Center at 507-835--3620.
