The annual Agronomy Field Tour at the Southern Research and Outreach Center at Waseca has been scheduled for Tuesday June 22, 2021 from 10:00 am to noon. The annual tour will be held virtually which is a little disappointing that it will not be in-person. I am sure the plans were made a while ago and it was was just recently that some of the COVID restrictions were relaxed.

Again this year there are many timely topics that will be addressed. Seth Naeve will discuss Early season soybean growth and development in a tough year. Jeff Coulter will discuss corn stand establishment, growth and development, Senyu Chen will cover strategies for managing the HG Types of the soybean cyst nematode. Tom Hoverstad will go over evaluation of weed management systems in a dry spring. Then Fabian Fernandez will go over nitrogen management on poorly drained soils.

Finally Jeff Vetsch will go over one of the major topics of conversation for farmers last spring, fertilizer prices! When corn prices go up you can be assured fertilizer prices will go up too! Jeff will talk about how high corn and fertilizer prices affect fertilizer rate guidelines.

You must pre-register and you can do that at: https://z.umn.edu/SROC-Agronomy_Field_Tour. There will be no charge for the virtual field tour but donations are "greatly appreciated and you can do that at: Waseca.z;umn.edu/sroc. I am sure the proceedings will be recorded and posted on SROC's web site too.
