This Colorful Owatonna-Built Igloo Has Captured Our Imagination!

Last night on the news, I was pretty surprised to see an Owatonna hand-built creation. Ashley Thorson and her family created a really unique igloo using colored blocks of ice and snow creating a jeweled igloo! How sweet does this thing look?

Ashley told WCCO-TV that the igloo "took more than 12 hours over four days to construct" and the blocks of ice were held in place by packing snow around the blocks, like mortar and bricks.

Ashley and her husband Ryan also told the good neighbor that the structure is made from "more than 250 blocks of ice" which holds up the igloo and its domed roof. The size of the structure is just about 6 feet high, so there is plenty of room for adults inside too.

This isn't the first igloo designed like this in Minnesota, last year in February a Lakeville mother constructed a similar styled, stained-glass-looking igloo, that captured the media's attention.
