This Minnesota Viking Was Just Named Week 2 NFLPA Community MVP

While the Vikings didn't get the results they were looking for on the field this weekend, one Minnesota Viking received some accolades for his work off the field. Detroit Lake's own Adam Thielen was named the NFLPA's Community MVP for week two after helping to fundraise more than $100,000 to get Brooklyn Center High School football field lights.

Adam Schefter tweeted the news of Thielen winning the award on Friday morning.

The school hadn't had working lights on its field for at least the last 3 years, as Vikings.com reported that Brooklyn Center "seniors who had never had the opportunity to play a home game under the lights. 'When you play a game at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, it just kind of loses that aura,' Gautsch said. 'The seniors are now part of new Brooklyn Center history.' Thielen delivered on the new lights after his foundation picked Brooklyn Center High School as the main recipient of the funds raised. Initially, Adam Thielen's foundation donated $10,000 to the school for sports equipment and other needs for athletics in 2019.
