Faribault Public Works Department Featured on AM Minnesota

Faribault public works director Travis Block will give us an overview of his department, which handles a lot of duties.

They maintain the city's infrastructure systems. The public works department is divided into divisions: streets division, utilities division and water reclamation facility.

Talk about being versatile, Block's department oversees the airport and yard waste. Thirty full-time employees and one part-time employee work in the department.

I asked Block to bring by some numbers that may be of interest. Miles of streets and sewer and water infrastructure. We've often had police and fire department officials on the air, and even the city administrator. We hope to have all the departments featured on the show that we don't normally hear from, and public works is definitely one of those.

I'm hoping to visit with community development and finance department officials in future programs.
